CVC FFA Advisor, Ag Teacher

This is my 15th year teaching! I've been married to Jason for 8 years. We have 3 kids who keep us busy! Caroline (5), Jace (3), Beau (1 1/2), and our fourth baby is due in October. We have a dog, 5 cats, 6 chickens, and a rabbit named Rainbow. I graduated from Fresno State and started teaching in 7th/8th grade in Orosi. I attended Hanford High School and was an active FFA student. I served as a chapter officer for three years, a sectional officer for two years, and a regional officer for one year. I was a member of the state champion cotton team and meats team. I also did speaking events and loved being involved. My favorite part of teaching agriculture is encouraging students to do things outside of their comfort zone.

This is my first year of teaching and I am super excited to get to see how God uses me here with these students! I just recently got married to Grant in July of this year, so that means I just recently got a name change. If you have been apart of the CVC FFA community for awhile now, you might know me better as a Westra. I am the oldest of 6 girls and am super thankful for each one of my sisters. Before teaching at CVC, I was a student at Dordt University where I did a lot with the Agriculture program and the Admissions office. I was also a waitress at a local restaurant. When I was home, I spent lots of time working on our family dairy. As a student, I showed dairy cattle at the Tulare County Fair, and participated in many different LDE’s and a few CDE’s. I was also an officer for a few years. My favorite part of teaching in agriculture is the relationships that I am able to create with my students.

I have been teaching for 26 years. I have been married for 30 years to my husband Greg and we have one son named Chandler. Before I started teaching at CVC, I had graduated from Fresno State and worked for the United states Department of Agriculture as an assistant country supervisor. While I was doing that I continued working on my families ranch. My school never had an FFA chapter but I was fortunate enough to be able to show Dairy and Swine through our local 4-H program. My favorite thing about teaching in Ag is that I get to share my passion for the agriculture industry with the younger generations.
